It’s nearly time….    01281.jpg

Time…

March 28, 2008

Greetings.

In honor of the newest release in the Star Trek franchise, I have made it a point to watch every single Star Trek film.  Oh, did they bring back memories.    Captain Kirk, DATA, the Enterprise….

It’s hard to say which film is my absolute favorite, however there is one line from Capt. Jean-Luc Picard, played by Patrick Stewart, in Star Trek Generations that really hit home.

Here’s the quote…

“Someone once told me that “time” was a predator that stalked us all our lives. I rather believe that time is a companion who goes with us on the journey and reminds us to cherish every moment, because it will never come again. What we leave behind is not as important as how we’ve lived….”

So, I raise a glass of Chateau Picard and dedicate this photo to the crew of the Enterprise.

ENJOY.

“Work, In Progress.”

March 26, 2008

Greetings.

Ever wonder why you can’t stand your job?  Or why your dreams seem to disappear because of that job?  Or even falling for that one person in the same office as yourself?  Or what about dodging your boss for fear of sexual innuendoes?

Well, last night I had the opportunity to photograph a rehearsal for “Work, In Progress.”  And might I add, that I am very proud of a dear friend of mine, Erin Dalton, for her extreme creativity in lyrical writing.  It is for her and for my momma that I post these photos.

——

Excerpt from the official press release…

Work, In Progress” by Erin Dalton and Michael Miteer, is an original one act musical about dreams and finding hope when you are stuck in an office job that means nothing to you. The production has a full cast, and also includes a thirteen member strong orchestra.

Erin said, “It’s a story of everyday people that are living mundane, nine to five workday lives. The conflict lies in their dreams that have been suppressed by the pressure of keeping a ‘stable’ job. This question is whether or not they will remain in their jobs to retain ‘stability’, or risk it all for the pursuit of what they really want for their lives.”

——–

Spread the word.  “Work, In Progress” starts this Saturday night, 8 pm, at GWU’s Dover Theatre.  And also a special encore performance on Sunday, at 3 pm.

Enjoy the photos!!!

New Look and New Site.

March 20, 2008

Good Morning To ALL!

Ah, spring time is almost here, and I cannot waaiiiit, oh no….wait a second….AAAACHHOOO!  Whew, sorry bout that.  Allergies.  Don’t you just love early spring allergies?  In fact, yesterday I had a wasp creep into my office, and I was thinking…”well, dang it’s a little early for you.”  Needless to say, he didn’t last long in here.  Ahem, moving on.

As you may or may not have noticed right off the bat, my blog looks a little different.  I thought, it was time for a fresh change, something in honor of the glorious time of year, Spring Time.  And speaking of fresh change, I’ve got some incredible news.  Joshua Mauldin, the genius behind the design of my website, and I have been communicating and it is time to update/upgrade my website.  I am so excited.  This man is a vintage creative design genius and I am so privileged to have his originality represent my photos.

Thanks for stopping by for a second.  It’s time to post some photos.

Studio Headshots of Corey.

December 11, 2007

As Count Monte Cristo very simply once said…”Greetings.”

It has been some time since my last photo blog update, and so I would like to introduce Corey.  A GWU student/friend of mine who said he needed some up to date headshots for his portfolio (looking to get a start in the male modeling industry.)  Hopefully these photos will get his foot in the door.

“Thanks Corey for thinking of me to photo ya.  Best of luck dude.”

And to everyone else, ENJOY.  Until next time.

Hello World. Ah, yes the return to blog posting once again.

Let me tell ya, I had the distinct and enjoyable honor of photographing a rising superstar this past weekend. And her name is Andria.

I grew up with Andria and her two polka dancing brothers, and I couldn’t believe my ears when Andria told me she needed some promotional shots.

I was like, “what for?” And she said, “for my upcoming CD.”

So, this past Saturday, we had a field day at Old-Salem (NC) and downtown Winston-Salem (NC), and got some groovy images.

I decided to post a bunch. Hope you like them and be on the look-out in Christian bookstores all over the Earth for Andria’s CD project….coming soon.

James Padgepp…a botanist.

November 1, 2007

During my time here at GWU, I have met a lot of interesting people with even more interesting occupations. This past Wednesday, I met James Padgepp; a GWU alum, and a botanist from Rutherford county.

This guy was amazing. I was asked to gather photos of him at the Broad River Greenway, and even though I had my camera with me, I was more interested in talking botany.

I will never forget James’ keen perspective on his environment. He was taking me all through the woods of the Greenway and I was amazed at how he found the plants he was looking for. I asked him, “how did you know to look all the way out here?” He responded, “the trees told me.” I will never be able to remember what all the names of plants he spoke of, but I will remember their smells. He said, “you can tell a lot from a plant by the way it smells.” It was like breaking bread, only breaking leaves.

Here are just a few photos of James in the Greenway.
